In good condition. Light wear to extremities with crushing to lower corners of boards. Light soiling on this book on the lower right corner starts at page 189, but confined to the bottom of the pages. Spine is highly faded with light discoloration from sun exposure, but the cover remains vivid and bold... Gilt stamping bright and clean on front board, however tarnished on spine. Binding remains well intact. No noticeable foxing. Binding remains intact. There slight discoloration to the front and back of the book

Second edition. From the Occult and Sciences series. Hereward Carrington (1880-1958) an established and respected British-born American who took on the role of a debunker by way of writing and investigating psychic phenomena. He wrote ambitiously on everything from alternative medicine, conjuring and stage magic, psychic research and of course the paranormal.

Carrington became a member of the American Society for Physical Research in 1907 and was deeply critical towards some paranormal phenomena. He relished exposing chicanery and hustlers engaged in fraudulent mediums including sealed-letter-reading, spirit photography, table turnings, mediums, materialization and what many bizarre magicians still use today.
