Magic Made Simple - Walter B. Gibson - York Estate

Walter B. Gibson, born in 1897 and passing away in 1985, was an American author and professional magician. He is best known for his work on The Shadow, a popular character during the 1930s and 1940s. Under the pen name Maxwell Grant, Gibson wrote an impressive 282 out of 325 Shadow novels, producing two novels per month at the peak of his prolific output. His tales often diverged from the better-known radio version of The Shadow, creating a unique mythos for the character. In Gibson’s version, The Shadow is actually Kent Allard, an aviator who occasionally poses as playboy Lamont Cranston, whereas the radio version portrays Cranston as the true identity of The Shadow. Additionally, the character Margo Lane, a companion to The Shadow, originated from the radio program rather than the pulps.

Beyond his work on The Shadow, Walter B. Gibson authored over 100 books on various topics, including magic, psychic phenomena, true crime, mysteries, rope knots, yoga, hypnotism, and games. He served as a ghostwriter for magic and spiritualism books by notable figures such as Harry Houdini, Howard Thurston, Harry Blackstone, and Joseph Dunninger. Gibson also introduced the famous “Chinese linking rings” trick to America and invented the enduring “Nickels To Dimes” trick still sold in magic stores today.

This is one of these books, very hard to find information on. Very rare book from an amazing Master of the art.
