Availability: In stock
Collection: All Products, Antiques/Estate, Parlor Magic
The "House of Java" is a vintage, giant-sized professional magic prop designed and manufactured by Owen Magic Supreme in Azusa, California, during the 1980s. It is a rare, elaborately detailed mechanical trick often used for producing large quantities of silks or production items
What made this unit a little different as I understand it was it was larger than the traditional silk cabbies and was able to work with a small dove as well.
Because of Owen Magic Supreme’s reputation for exquisite, handcrafted woodworking and hardware, their vintage props are highly sought after by collectors. A sample "House of Java" has periodically appeared in specialty vintage magic events like the Potter & Potter Auctions. These giant-sized specialty props typically command auction estimates in the hundreds of dollars, depending on their condition and the presence of original stencils or instructions.
Design: The prop is designed to look like a giant Victorian-style birdhouse.
Mechanism: The doors on both sides of the "house" can be opened to show the interior completely empty. Performance: After a magic pass, the magician is able to produce a remarkably large quantity of silks or other items from the seemingly empty compartment
Condition: Near Fine save for a very small area at the apex of the triangle. That is the only thing that keeps it from being designated as FINE.
DIMS: 11 3/4" Long by 5 3/4" wide at the base. Does NOT come with instructions but most you looking are well familiar with the silk cabby already and instructions can easily be found unfortunately these days on line.
