This effect is based on the 1665 effect in Mentalism.
In 1912 the great ocean disaster involving the luxury liner RMS Titanic sank into the Atlantic Ocean. In the confusion of the initial panic, lifeboats were deployed with only a few passengers onboard even though most could hold as many as 60 on average.
One such lifeboat had only 8 passengers on it. As they floated away during the final moments of the doomed vessel, they heard a cry for help in the waters. They swung around and pulled a lone passenger from the freezing Atlantic. At the arrival of the new passenger, there were now 3 members of each passenger class aboard the lifeboat. The new passenger, saved from an untimely death, would live for many years later.
I believe in fate and destiny and that universe is governed by rules we can understand if we open our minds! I have here that lucky passenger's ticket, photo and boarding pass as well as photos of the eight heroic co-passengers
Effect: Call 3 volunteers from the audience. You can show off the cards if you want but lay them face down on a table in rows of 3 by class. First Class, Second Class, Third Class Tell each volunteer they are representing one of the classes.
Using a small white board, chalkboard or pen and paper, ask each volunteer in order of class to choose name and number. Then write that number down. For example, the first number might be 154 as in 1st (1.), 2nd (5.) and 3rd (4.). They will seemingly have free choice. Next repeat this pattern 2 more times so that all the numbers have been chosen and you have 3 rows. Your set of numbers might look like this:
154
679
832+
