Magic as a Hobby - Book - Brother Shadow Estate

228 pages, Hardcover - First edition
Magic as a Hobby by Bruce Elliot.  Foreword by Orson Wells.  I can't help it, I remember when Orson Wells called the shop when I was a young boy and I answered.  He spoke with my father Joe and was on the hunt for a high quality multiplying nest of bottles to perform the Ken Brooke routine. Seems like another life.
New Tricks for Amateur Performers. Illustrated by L. Vosburgh Lyons. Another good volume by Bruce Elliot. Bruce writes in a more narrative fashion, and many of the effects are “run together” in the text. This makes it more difficult to find what you are looking for, but provides for good reading. This volume seems more of an idea book rather than a set of full routines. I highly recommend Bruce Elliot’s books, they are especially good reading for the beginning/intermediate magician

Condition: Book is in good-fair condition. There is significant Foxing on the top of book The slip cover has some small tears at the top but remains doing a good job at what it is designed to do, protect the covers of the book. The book remains sturdy and solid.

While this is not stamped "Ex Libris" it is certified with a card to confirm it was in Carl's library. It does feature an interesting embossed seal the likes we have never seen stating Brother Shadow.

These books are great for mediums interested in creating ambience by having a shelf full of similar like books as well as used for learning the vocabulary of words that could be interwoven into a dark seance.
