Tim Moore - The Steward

Tim Moore - The Steward

Germain

I want to thank Tim and Nancy Moore for allowing us to showcase the photos below. Some of you got my initial e-mail flash that was sent, and while it did a great job of highlighting the pieces, I wanted to also have this story featured on the Stevens Magic Emporium webpage for many reasons… The main reason being that the photo sizes in my e-mail flash did not fully enlighten readers. I wanted to have larger images so the detail can be seen and fully appreciated.

For those of you who are “not” registered with “Joe’s Flash” (a bi-monthly e-mail that features highlights and the latest products), I strongly encourage you to sign up. We don’t ever share your private information and we also don’t annoy you with e-mails every other day. We have had excellent feedback regards to Joe’s Flash, with some saying it’s so refreshing and different. Our stats support this with open rates 3 X the average for related industries and click through rates at 2X the average.

Tim Moore Collection

About 17 years ago or so, I had the chance to visit Christian Fechner’s studio in Paris and Joe and I and Georges Proust were able to view his lower floor vault that housed some of his most prized Robert Houdin antiques.

Shortly after returning from France a guy name Tim Moore started to call about some pieces and we developed a friendship. In that short about of time, Tim has amassed an amazing collection and in fact a few of the pieces we witnessed in Christian’s Collection are included in his showcase.

Several years ago, a guy started calling our shop and asking about antiques. This is not that unusual mind you, but what was unusual is how in a relatively short time, this individual amassed a collection that is truly unique and coveted by some of the biggest names in magic and collectors’ worldwide.

What makes this success story better is the human factor. Despite his passion for antiques and magic, Tim never lost sight of the more important things in his life – family. I must admit I have seen it more then a few times, where the drive of collecting consumes a person, to the point where there identities are solely in the possessions they have amassed. Tim also vest his time in his dental practice, where you will also find some exceptionally beautiful and rare lithographs!

Magician Gerardo Parra from Chile flew in so he could have dental work surrounded by magic history! Hurry – Spots are filling up quickly!

Tim Moore is about as approachable and lovable as an person you will meet. He has a sparkle that radiates from within that can best be viewed in his eyes. A positive and kinetic aura that radiates from within. He’s engaged, alert and excited and loves finding the zest of life.

Many years ago, Joe and I had the opportunity to visit Tim and Nancy at their lovely home. The exhibitions were a treat – some of them are featured in photos within this post.

Cheers to YOU – Tim!
Everyone who knows him would agree – this guy is deserving of all his success in life! It’s good to see the good guys do well! For those of you that don’t know him, I assure you it’s a worthwhile endeavor to meet him.

Tim has that something special, that spark that can be seen in his eye, the energy that can be felt when he’s next to you. He approaches life with a fabulous sense of wonderment, zeal and curiosity. Tim is the guy you want to travel to a magic convention with, or be with even when things go bad, because he’s has the gift of positive energy that is balanced with a wonderful sense of peaceful tranquility. When you spend time with Tim, you just feel like life is good!

As my father who always read to me Rudyard Kipling’s “IF” – over and over until it actually meant something to me (and to this day has it framed in his office). Tim seems to have also subscribed to these powerful words of wisdom (as many of you who know Tim “personally” are “well” aware). But there is one section that I would like to focus on below in red that Joe referenced about Tim.
“IF”
Rudyard Kipling
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream-and not make dreams your master;
If you can think-and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster;
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings-nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And-which is more-you’ll be a Man, my son!
