We at Stevens Magic like to highlight – whenever possible artist that strive for perfection and in doing so are happy to feature magician Arkhan from Brazil. As many of you know Magic is an international language… Here is a quick interview with an “up and coming” artist we hope you will enjoy!

Emerson Roberto, started his professional career as a magician in 2000 at AMSP (Association of Magicias of Sao Paulo) through the magicians Geraldin and Santiago.

Emerson (Arkhan) was born and living in the country side in the State of Sao Paulo, Arkhan, tell us about the challenges and his passion for magic that made him one of the most wanted magician of his area. As many magicians, the passion for magic comes from his childhood, when he used to get magic kits on his birthdays and performed to his family. Currently, last November 2011, Arkhan won the second position in the championship “The Best Close Up Magic,” hosted in Sao Paulo – Brazil.

In an interview for Stevens Magic Emporium, Arkhan, talks about his struggles, dreams and magic.
Mark: you said to become a magician you had to go through a tough time. Tell us more about it?

Arkhan: being from the country side of the city of Sao Paulo there is no tools or accessories to become a magician. So, I had to go to Down town. I already had a family and worked in a corporation. This way, I used to leave from work and “travel” to down town (of Sao Paulo). There were a lot of trips going to bed late and getting up very early in the morning… really early! (laughs)

Mark: So you have another job besides magic, right?
Arkhan: Yes. I have been working at General Motors of Brazil for 16 years as a production supervisor and have a college degree in Engineering of Production.

Mark: How do you manage Emerson, the supervisor at work and Arkhan, the magician?

Arkhan: It is hard! But my performances are more at the end of the day, between afternoons and evenings and on the weekends. And there is an exchange, on my job as a supervisor I have to do performances to the employees I’m in charge of as I do to the directors of the company too, that’s how I got my abilities as a magician, in addition to my discipline, focus and quality of my magic shows I own up to the values I got from working in such a professional corporation.

Mark: Who are the magicians that influenced your career?
Arkhan: David Copperfield, but I also admire Lance Burton, whom I hope to meet one day.

Mark: Currently, you won a prize as second place in a championship of close ups hosted at State of Sao Paulo – Brazil. Please, tell us what it was like…
Arkhan: It was humbling. To see that audience, new magicians, techniques, it was really very good and to me, I felt like I was winning the first place because my goal was always the art of magic, commercial, not a competition. And when I watched my competitors, young talented magicians, with exceptional abilities and I was the one that was awarded second place, it was unforgettable and motivated me to participate even more.

Mark: What is your goal with magic?
Arkhan: to have a performance show, where I can go on a tour around the country and maybe outside of Brazil as well.

Mark: What message you would give to our customers and readers?
Arkhan: If you have a dream, be it on the magic field or any other one… Go after it! The chase for success doesn’t come out of no where, but through perseverance, discipline and dedication. Thank you!

Emerson Roberto, iniciou sua carreira como mágico no ano 2000 na AMSP (Associação dos Mágicos de São Paulo) através dos mágicos Geraldin e Santiago. Nascido e residente numa cidade do interior do Estado, Arkhan, nos conta das dificuldades e sua paixão pela Arte Mágica que o fez um dos mágicos mais solicitados em sua cidade e região.

Como muitos mágicos a paixão pela Arte Mágica é desde a infância, onde ganhava kits de mágicas em seus aniversários e apresentava para seus familiares.

No último dia 24 de Novembro de 2011, Arkhan ,foi o ganhador do título de 2º lugar no campeonato ” The Best Close Up Magic”, realizado na cidade de São Paulo – Brasil.
Em entrevista á Stevens Magic Emporium , Arkhan, fala de seus desafios, sonhos e mágica.

Mark: Você comentou que para se tornar um mágico, encontrou muitas dificuldades?Como foi?

Arkhan: Como sou do interior não existe cursos ou acessórios para se tornar um mágico. Então! Tive que procurar na capital. Já tinha minha família e trabalhava numa empresa.Assim, saia do trabalho e viajava para a capital.Foram muitas e muitas viagens indo dormir tarde e acordar muito cedo…muito cedo mesmo!!! ( risos)
Mark: Você tem outro trabalho em paralelo com a mágica?
Arkhan: Sim.Trabalho na General Motor do Brasil á 16 anos como supervisor de produção e formado em Engenharia de Produção.

Mark: Como você concilia o supervisor Emerson e o mágico Arkhan?
Arkhan: É difícil! Mas meus shows são mais no horário da tarde para o anoitecer e nos finais de semana.E existe uma troca, pois na minha função como líder tenho que fazer constantes apresentações para meus liderados como para diretoria também, nesse ponto entra minha prática em apresentações que adquiri com a mágica e no caso do mágico os valores e competências que são exigidas na empresa me ajudaram na disciplina, foco no cliente e na qualidade de meus shows.

Mark: Qual mágico influenciou na sua carreira?
Arkhan: David Copperfield. Mas me espelhei em Lance Burton, que espero conhecer algum dia

Mark: Recentemente, você foi premiado em 2º lugar num campeonato de close up realizado no estado de São Paulo – Brasil. Conte-nos como foi?
Arkhan: Foi muito gratificante.Ver toda aquele público, novos mágicos ,técnicas,foi realmente muito bom e pra mim foi com gostinho de 1º lugar.Pois, meu foco sempre foi a mágica comer-cial e não de competição .E quando assisti meus concorrentes, jovens mágicos talentosíssimos, com habilidades excepcionais e consegui o 2º lugar, foi inesquecível e motivador a participar de outros.

Mark: Qual é a sua meta na Arte Mágica?
Arkhan: Ter um show, onde possa fazer uma turnê por todo país e quem sabe fora também
