Pilou Part 2

by MARK STEVENS
Pilou Part 2
"He was a boisterous, pallid, nimble, wide-awake, jeering, lad with a vivacious but sickly air. He went and came, sang, played at hopscotch, scraped the gutters, stole a little, but, like cats and sparrows, gayly laughed when he was called a rogue, and got angry when called a thief. He had no shelter, no bread, no fire, no love; but he was merry because he was free."

Pilou, today a professional magician since five years, has always had an interest in the performing arts. Before turning to magic ten years ago, he had played the guitar, juggled and worked in the streets as a saltimbanque. For Pilou the contact with the audience is essential.

During the last two years, Pilou has not only been working on his stage act. It’s a nice coincidence to note that Pilou’s son Benjamin is now two years old. Or is it maybe more than a coincidence? At the end of our conversation Pilou gets a bit philosophical and reflects upon how the birth of his son has motivated him to continue to work on his magic and on finding himself. Isn’t that maybe the greatest magic of all?
