Pull what has become the short cord and the opposite cord shortens. Yet when the longer cord is pulled up and down it is obviously independent of the cord at the opposite end of the Wand. The Wand may, at any time, be separated in the middle to show that there are no internal connections. Rejoin the Wand halves and the long-short interchanges can be immediately repeated.
