(Also known as “Dead Man Awaking”) There have been many variations of routines called “haunted deck” over the years, where a deck of cards cuts itself and makes revealing moves, as if a shots might have been manipulating it. However, most of those variations were executed with the help of thread, (which is a great way to perform it too) and none of the movement of the card deck really stood out. While this traditional method is still very strong and we would also suggest Finn Jon’s version, the creators of this effect challenged themselves to try to devise a more outrageous and different method to achieve this great effect called the “Haunted Deck.” We are proud to release this new method which is a beautiful version of the haunted or ghost deck that no one has ever seen, relating not only to the moving of the deck, but also the procedure in which it occurs. Few effects can achieve the gasps and awe’s as a successfully performed haunted or ghost deck.
EFFECT: Take out a card deck and spread it showing both sides of the cards to prove it is a regular deck. Spread the cards face down and invite someone to select a card and return it back to the deck (asking him to memorize it). Now you cut and shuffle the deck completely and square the deck and strangely, as if by the hands of an apparition, one card rises up! It must be the chosen card – but no – it is not! So you point to another card in front of that card and ask him to take it – it ends up being his card! You close the deck and square spread it again showing both sides of the cards, so the spectators can see there is no thread involved. This effect can be preformed repeatedly; you don’t need long sleeves to cover anything. It does not work with any threads or magnets.
