PSI-Con Ruse

The foundation for this effect is Dr. Stanley Jaks’ “Supersonic Card Prediction,” hence the title, an anagram. A pack of cards is shuffled by a spectator. The performer brings out a book on fortune telling and proposes a test. He takes the shuffled deck and hands the spectator an envelope. Five cards are cleanly inserted one at a time around the open edges of the book. The spectator freely chooses one of the cards. He opens the envelope and reads the message naming a card. That, of course, is the same card chosen from the five different cards in the book. No magician’s choice. No switch of cards. By Max Maven/Phil Goldstein.
